Youth Development

Every youth deserves the opportunity to have and pursue a bigger dream in spite of their family background or circumstances. Hence, PKLPP wants to create and provide that opportunity for youth who are from underprivileged or troubled families.

One of the ongoing efforts to empower these youth is our Community Youth Camp that will be held twice annually during our Malaysia school breaks in May and November. Our last three camps were a meaningful milestone with many external organisations, companies and individuals sharing our vision to #inspirepassion and #buildconfidence in these youth.

The camp participants, aged 12 – 17 years old, had the opportunity to explore various interest workshops conducted by companies and individuals who are aficionados in their respective fields such as, dance, photography, coffee roasting and art, self-defence, coding, origami and more. They were also equipped with essential life skills and values through workshops like RESPEK by Women’s Centre for Change (WCC), Financial Intelligence by MyPF Services, public speaking and presentation skills.

After the first two camps, we have extended it to a 4-day camp, adding another day of either an educational or recreational day-trip for the participants. In 2019, with partial sponsorship by Entopia, the camp participants had the opportunity to reconnect with nature and go on a natural learning experience.

Our community youth camp also strives to create an opportunity for parents, guardians and youth educators to be involved by inviting them to attend the Award and Presentation Day on the last day of the camp. Many of their eyes beamed with joy and pride as their child presented the many things they have learned and experienced throughout the camp. The participants took the opportunity with great honour and earnestness as well to share how they have overcome some personal hurdles throughout the camp.

PKLPP is dedicated and passionate about continuing and expanding our effort in investing, empowering and equipping the current and future generation through our youth development initiatives. We look forward to crossing paths and collaborating with more venue sponsors, educators, organisations, companies and individuals who have a genuine passion for the youth to achieve a wider and deeper impact.
